Cave Time

The Cave of Hopelessness; 3.17.23

Main Idea/Summary
We have hope because God is still working and I can join him in the work

1 Kings 19:1-18 Exodus 3:1-5

About God
“Scripture is a collection of broken, messed-up people who get it wrong most of the time.” What does it mean to you that God chose to include stories like those in the Bible?

About Me
“In the space where we stop running, God shows up.” Where do you need to stop running, and what hopeful things may happen if you do so?

Do you know anyone who doesn’t need a person to tell them they are wrong, but needs someone to show up with something for them to eat? Who are people like this in your community?

God comforts us, then tells us to go back toward our problems and connect with people who will join us on a mission to be different. What does this look like for you?

Who is God calling you to bring hope to this week? In what practical way will you do that?

Father God, we praise you for the gift of hope. We confess we often run away from our pain, which causes our hope to dwindle and our relationship with you to fade. But you offer us a holy space in our hopelessness because of your presence in that place. May we bring our weakness to you, trust you with our honest feelings, and receive your comfort so we can help others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
