For the Sake of Others

Need You; 9.17.23

Main Idea/Summary
We need each other as part of the body of Christ.

1 Cor. 12:4-14 Romans 12:4-10

About God
What gifts do you think God might have given you to give to the body of Christ? How will you thank and praise him for giving you that gift?

About Me
“Everything you do is just about you.” This was the prevailing message in Corinth’s culture, and it’s the prevailing message in our culture today. How do you see this attitude showing up in your life? In what ways is God nudging you to change it?

How does the idea that we belong to each other challenge the draw toward individuality in you? If you invite God into this struggle, how might he use you more in the community?

Thinking of a trellis, how might you support others’ growth while growing yourself? Give practical examples to describe your mission.

This week, look at the areas in which you consume rather than contributing and commit to reversing that in some specific area.

Father God, we praise you for creating us for community. You give us gifts to share with others, and we count that as a blessing today. Please show us how to share these gifts for the greater good, being contributors rather than consumers. May we follow Jesus’ selfless example of serving others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
