He Gets Us
For Us; 6.4.23
We see that God is for us when we look at Jesus
Romans 8:31-32 Hebrews 4:13-5:4 Hebrews 2:17-18 John 8:11
Ron opened up his message talking about a dog that seems unapproachable and that some people might feel that way about God. How do you image God and how approachable he is? How did you develop that image? Hebrews talked about "the throne of mercy", how does that phrase influence your picture of God?
Can you think of someone in your life that you know have been for you? Can you share what about them made you feel that way? Has there been a time in your life when you have experienced God being with you even though things was difficult?
The book of Hebrews was written to a Christian community that was struggling to keep the faith in the middle of difficult circumstances. Is there anyone you know in your community that might need some encouragement in their faith?
Jesus is able to stand before the Father on our behalf because he entered into our world and knows what our weakness is like. Who are some people that you could move towards and enter into their world a little bit? Who are some people that need to know about this God that loves them?
When you pray this week, take time to picture God's throne of mercy and Jesus there at the right hand of the father. What would you ask in prayer if could experience that more fully? Take time to write down your prayers and reflect on them later this week.
Lord Jesus, the one who is human and divine, and right now stand before the throne of God as man that understands our weakness, carry us to the Father. Thank you for pursuing us and for showing us that God is for us. Fill us with your Holy Spirit and help us to do the same for others but following your example. Amen.
