We are deeply connected to one another in the work of the Gospel
Ron pointed out how often in the New Testament, a fair bit of time is given to particular names and specific relationships at the end of many of the letters. What might it tell us about God that he decided to preserve not just the theology and ideas of these letters but the names and specific relationships also?
Can you name some people in your life that would want to encourage, give comfort to, or pray for? Can you share a little bit of why or your history with those people?
Who in your community or in life has done those things for you in different times or circumstances?
Read verses 2-6. What environment or relationships do you have with outsiders (people that are not disciples of Jesus) and where you need to make the most of the opportunities you have? What would it mean for you to have a conversation that is full of grace and seasoned with salt with them?
Identify one disciple of Jesus and one person that is not a disciple of Jesus and a practical way that you can care for them in the name of Jesus this week.
Lord God, you care about each relationship in our lives. Help us to encourage other believers and to love them well. Give us the boldness and grace to serve people who do not follow you by sharing the gospel in a way that is full of grace. You love each of us, so use us Lord as we walk each other toward Jesus.
