QUESTIONS
About God
Pastor Brett discussed the character of God, as shown in the Old Testament. Based on the above Scriptures, who does God tend to find and draw near to? What does this tell you about God?
About Me
Read 1 Samuel 1:10-11. Hannah comes to the tabernacle completely broken and pleads with the Lord to give her a son. Can you recall a time you’ve come to the Lord in your brokenness and pleaded with Him for mercy? How did God respond?
Community
Hannah held true to her promise to God that if He gave her a son, she would “give” her son to Him (by allowing Eli to raise him). Could you imagine being separated from your own child? Who in your life has modeled this type of sacrifice and faithfulness to God?
Mission
When we feel like God is quiet, it can be difficult to stay focused in our Faith. Do you know someone who may be experiencing this phenomenon? How can you serve them in a way that may help them draw closer to God?
Action
Brett quoted Tim Keller stating “Religious people find God useful. Growing Christians find God beautiful. ” Do you find God beautiful?
Take some time to be present with God this week so that you may be in awe of His beauty.
Father, we are listening. Speak to us. You owe us nothing; we just want to rest at Your feet. Make our hearts tender for You, fill us with Your Holy Spirit and let us be caught up in Your presence. Amen.
