QUESTIONS
About God
Pastor Ron discussed how making promises and keeping promises makes us more like God. Why do you think that is true? What promises has God made and kept to you, personally?
About Me
The first book of Samuel paints a picture of a beautiful friendship between Jonathan and David. Good friends help encourage us, strengthen us, sacrifice for us, etc. Do you or have you ever had a friendship such as that of Jonathan and David? How has that friendship benefitted and changed your life? On the other hand, can you recall a friendship that did the opposite? How did that affect you?
Community
We all go through phases in our lives where we may find ourselves struggling with our Faith. Good friends help us find strength in God when we can’t find it alone. How can you move towards friendships that can help build upon your faith and relationship with God?
Mission
If you want a good friend, you first have to be a good friend. With this in mind, how can you engage differently with others in your life, like co-workers, current friends, acquaintances, etc?
Action
When was the last time you made a promise and kept it? Name some specific promises you can make in relation to your current friendships. Make sure you follow through!
Heavenly Father, we thank You for being a promise maker and a promise keeper. Thank you for the loyal people you have put in our lives that do just the same for us. Help us move toward good friendships, to be good friends ourselves and to commit to keeping our promises so that we are more like You. Amen
