Our Leadership

The work of the Church of Jesus Christ is the most crucial mission in the world. La Croix is committed to stewarding this work well by placing people in positions of authority who have spiritual gifts of leadership and wisdom and are themselves growing disciples and wholehearted followers of Jesus. The work demands this, and our people should expect this.

At La Croix, our paid and unpaid staff play a significant role in the day-to-day leadership of ministries. Ministry is in the hands of God’s people, and our staff exists to equip them to serve. Effective ministry is done by teams that are accountable to those in authority. At La Croix, three major leadership teams are dedicated to leading people to wholeheartedly follow Jesus. These teams help us maintain our values of keeping La Croix outwardly focused, thriving in the community, and continually moving toward Jesus.

Executive Team

A team of five individuals oversees our staff. All staff report to our senior pastor, who is directly supervised by the president of SLI, a Christian coaching organization that La Croix has partnered with since 2015. Our senior pastor and the president of SLI are ultimately accountable to our Church Council. The Executive Team is responsible for the management of the staff, utilizing supervisory processes to help them feel supported and accountable to the mission of the church.

La Croix’s Executive Team consists of:

• Ron Watts, Senior Pastor
• Brett Cheek, Spiritual Formation and Teaching Pastor
• Kim Holman, Discipleship and Missions Pastor
• Cooper McKelvey, Executive Director of Finance and Operations
• Josh Reeves, Creative Arts Director

Lead Team

While the mission remains the same, the context in which we work does not. This situation calls for adaptive leadership. This vital work ensures that our mission of making wholehearted followers of Jesus remains the focus and that our ministries are effective and aligned with our vision and values. The Lead Team, comprised of paid and unpaid spiritual leaders, regularly asks the big questions, looks at the big picture, and ensures that we adapt to our ever-changing cultural context to remain focused on the mission field. This team, which spends significant time together monthly, initiates most major ministry initiatives and innovations.

Church Council

The chief governing body of La Croix Church is the Church Council. As a legislative body, this team oversees the church’s business affairs, approves policies, procedures, and budgets, and ensures the church’s work is done with integrity and remains on mission. Their work includes overseeing the Senior Pastor and maintaining our connection with the Sanctification Network. The other legislative committees of the church (Finance Committee, Trustees, Missions Council, and Nominations Committee) are all amenable to the Church Council. Members of this body are nominated to serve by the Nominations Committee and elected to their positions at La Croix’s annual Church Conference for a designated term. All members must be wholehearted followers of Jesus and people of character and high integrity.

Contact

La Croix’s leadership is committed to meaningful, accountable relationships with leaders of other churches. Our Senior Pastor is one of the founding members of this organization and meets with the others every week by Zoom for two hours and twice a year in three-day retreats.
